Soldier - Diplomat 

Father of three, grandfather of five, and loving companion to Rose. A kind and gentle man who stood by his family in times of great stress and personal suffering. A role model who dedicated his life to his country and put public service over personal gain; who bravely fought for his country in World War II; who spent three decades as a foreign service officer, ably and courageously communicating the goals and hopes of America in a dangerous and often hostile world, creating and sustaining innumerable friendships for his country and himself in the process.
