WRTC is dedicated to providing care for donors and their families. The donor family advocacy program offers:
- Remembered for Life memorial with a certificate of appreciation, remembrance pins, green donation bracelets and other requested information
- Personal contact for up to two years through letters and telephone calls
- Quarterly bereavement seminars, each covering a different aspect of grief and facilitated by trained professionals
- Annual Donor Family Gathering, a service dedicated to the memory of those who have died and given the gift of life in the Washington, DC area
- Mid-Life Widowhood Support Group which meets twice a month to help those who have lost a spouse or significant other (for those 60 and under whose loss has occurred within the last two years)
- WRTC's Donor Family Council established to provide WRTC guidance and advice on various issues affecting donor families, the advocacy program and the donation process
- The Surgeon General's Certificate of Appreciation
- WRTC's Donor Remembrance Quilt providing an opportunity for families to honor and remember their loved one with a quilt square and narrative about it
- Confidential communication services for donor families or living donors who want to write and/or meet their recipients
- Bi-yearly LifeLines Newsletter sent to all families at least nine months post donation, with information on WRTC programs, upcoming events and opportunities to volunteer.
