Theme:
“Organ & Tissue Donation: Persuade Someone to Give the Gift of a Lifetime.” Write a 1,000 word persuasive argument on the topic, fiction or non fiction, with sources cited.
Sponsor:
Washington Regional Transplant Community (WRTC), the D.C. metropolitan area’s organ recovery agency, and its Donor Family Council. WRTC is dedicated to educating people from all walks of life in our community about the benefits of organ and tissue donation.

You will be disqualified if there are no citations, if there are more than 1,000 words or your submission is late!
Winners:
Eight winners will be selected from area high schools in the District of Columbia, Virginia, and Maryland. The first place winner will receive a $5,000 scholarship. The second place winner will receive a $3,000 scholarship. Six honorable mention winners will receive a $1,000 scholarship each.
When:
Winners ONLY will be notified on or about May 18, 2013. Winning essays will be posted on this website.

Numerical data (e.g. numbers of visitors to the site or a particular page) are collected for statistical purposes only. Students who submit essays will not be enrolled to receive extraneous emails and/or solicitations of any sort. Only scholarship winners will be contacted by the staff of WRTC. Scholarship recipients should note that their name, home town, high school, college/institution the student plans to attend, prize amount and winning essay will be listed on WRTC’s website and may also be used in other promotional materials (e.g., in WRTC newsletters, press materials and on WRTC’s Facebook page, www.facebook.com/beadonor). Any photos submitted by the students or taken during the official in-person presentation of the scholarship may also be included in WRTC promotional materials.
