Continuing Education & Training

HS Graphic 2018The partnership between WRTC and our hospital providers is crucial to realizing the goal of maximizing organ, eye and tissue donation for our community. WRTC provides training to our hospital partners on all aspects of the donation process so that providers better understand each step. By working together, we ensure that families receive comprehensive end-of-life care including the opportunity to make informed decisions about donation.

WRTC offers a multitude of resources to enhance the knowledge and familiarity of this complex and infrequent process. Go to beadonor.org/WRTCOnTheGo to access to these FREE resources. The website can easily be bookmarked and/or added to your phone’s home screen for quick and easy future access.

VIRTUAL DONATION RESOURCE SPECIALIST (DRS) TRAINING

The Virtual Donation Resource Specialist (DRS) Training is a free, 2 morning-long program from 08:00 am-12:00 pm designed to educate physicians, fellows, residents and nurses on best practices in the organ, eye and tissue donation process.  In this 2 morning-long program, we provide an opportunity for registrants to connect to purpose by hearing from a donor family member, an organ recipient and a tissue recipient. Topics include clinical triggers for identification and referral of a potential organ donor, how medical suitability is established, donation best practices, and how to plan together for an optimal family discussion about donation.

Nursing Credits Upon Completion: Nursing attendees will receive free – 7.5 Continuing Nursing Education (CNE) credits. Attendance is required for the entire 2 morning-long program to obtain all 7.5 credits.

Physician Credits Upon Completion: Physician attendees will receive free – 7.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™.  Partial attendance credit can be given. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

REGISTRATION IS FREE. For each Virtual DRS, space is limited. Please provide early notification if you can no longer attend the program. We request you sign up for only ONE (1) Virtual DRS at a time to give as many healthcare partners as possible an opportunity to attend.
