After extensive heart surgery in April 2019, Valentine C. Tyler died on December 3, 2019, at the age of 81. She had expressed her desire, while renewing her Virginia driver’s license several years prior, to be an organ donor at death. At the request of the Washington Regional Transplant Community (WRTC) after she died, her surviving family added their consent.
Valentine was a warm-hearted and generous person, who always looked after her family. She loved to laugh, had a keen sense of humor and got along well with just about everybody. As sad as we are to have lost her, there is pride and comfort in the knowledge that she would have approved of WRTC’s involvement at the end of her life, and that, as an organ donor, she made other lives better.
